Re: WAD Phono II problem
Hi Bob,
So did your pcb have spaces marked for C20/21/22/23 printed on it? Please post a photo of it if you have it or email it to me for the archives if it is easier. If so the component numbers would have been "shifted along" compared with the later pcb - but - as the same numbers were used for different cap positions and values it is vital that the correct circuit is used for the correct pcb. Compare the June 2000 to Aug 2000 circuits posted previously to see this. Add that to the possible 3.18 mod and any other changes people may have done over the years, or bought secondhand etc, and we need to be careful doing work/advising on these models. |

Re: WAD Phono II problem
Richard, I will try and scan a page from the build instructions that were suppled with my first kit as I no longer have the unit, it does have the numbers C20 to 23, 20 and 21 are the 220pF capacitors and 22 and 23 are the 2.2 uF out put capacitors. Bob

Re: WAD Phono II problem
I've ordered a brand spanking new Phono 3 board from Matthew so once the Phono II comes out of the case, and I've removed some of the more embarrassing soldering, modfications and oversized replacement upgrade capacitors, I'll upload a picture of the board.
From what Richard says it appears that I have a fairly early board with an update 'errata' type sheet with the instructions. |
