WD25T version confusion

Seas do a version of the A26 using a different tweeter and simpler crossover. The port stuffing may be of interest to those with failing foam or who wish to build a new WD A25 or T25.

Thanks Greg. I already have the CD ROM which I have been perusing and am just looking at the Aug 1994 KLS3 article. It seems like a definite possibility as the drive units are still available. What could possibly go wrong!

Don’t miss the follow up articles. There are two on the Mk2 version and a further couple on port tuning. The Mk2 crossover is far superior to Mk1. I have a crossover circuit so the Mk2 version can still be used with the Audax TW025 tweeter. There’s a thread here somewhere which I’ll have a look for. There is also a Mk3 version (not on the CD-Rom) which I’ll try and find a link too. I’ve spent many hours refining my KLS3’s so don’t hesitate to contact me if there is anything you’d like to discuss.

I'm a bit late to the conversation but I built a pair of the floorstanding WD25T ex's with the millenium tweeters and lived with them for the past few years and have been more than impressed by their performance, (particularly in the bass).

Positioning is very important as they have been designed to work close to a back wall to reinforce base. I found in the first few months that a little experimenting with positioning allowed me to tune the bass so I have very fast/unbloated bass that is actually tuneful, not the "one-note" variety of some 'speaker systems.

I followed the final revision instructions re X-over from Peter Comeau's articles from 2008ish??(don't quote me). My 'speakers are constructed from 1inch ply and have the benefit of a very easy to drive impedance curve for lots of valve amps.

When you say close to a rear wall, how close are you talking?

About 10 inches in my setup. You can go closer but I find there is a balance between peak bass and sound stage depth (the illusion of instruments being placed in front of and behind the speakers). Where I have them is just right for me. By way of comparison my last floorstanding speakers (2 1/2 way bass reflex) were placed about 2 feet from rear wall.
