I have for sale a Pre III that I took in PX against a Pre III CF, I have completely refurbished it with some new parts, it also has a cheap but good Alps stepped volume control, ( original here if you want it ) as is, there is no front panel or knobs as these were fitter to the CF, I will put pictures on when Janet has a moment to resize the photos, asking £250.00 plus postage, if front panel and knobs are wanted then I shall have to contact Matthew for the extra price, or buyer could do same. If anybody fancies it, a low cost fix for the front panel would be to visit your local trophy/engraving shop and get an engraved plastic or if being fancy a metal plate to the desired dimensions. You'll have to drill your own holes in it but you can get a really smart result this way.

I like the pre3/pre4 design and use it myself with a mod that reduces the gain without adding resistors, potentiometers, or shunt pot (I really do not like the shunt mod, do not try to convince me otherwise please) I wrote this up in another thread and can say that its a simple mod that really does the business. My pre4 board based job is tweaked to have a mere 6dB of voltage gain which is just right for my 1V sensitivity homebrew power amp without being too high gain for the half a volt sensitivity of my other amps (WD KT88, Quad 405-2 etc).
