WAD KEL84 as power-amp. Wattage of changed Resistors?
Hi all
just about to fiddle with an integrated KEL84 and the new construction manual doesn't have wattage of resistors. R2 and R3 need to change from 1M to 100K but not sure of the wattage. I guess 2W will do and since these Res are not in the signal path any brand will do. But others' experiences would be helpful. Also, for internal hook-up wire the Duelund from HiFi Collective that is based on classic WE cable looks interesting (see here and scroll for history and review): https://www.hificollective.co.uk/wir...insulated.html Has anyone tried these as hook-up or inter-connect or speaker? Re: WAD KEL84 as power-amp. Wattage of changed Resistors?
I have tried using them as interconnects but didn't get on with them. I found it horrible to work with. They sound OK.
This is pretty good - https://www.hificollective.co.uk/wir...wire-05mm.html as used in their cable kit No.2. I built one and it sounds great although a tad expensive. My favorite for interconnects is/was IC2 cable from IPL Acoustics, but I think he has now retired sadly, although it is remarkably similar to World Designs Soniqs ICT cable as used in their XL kits. I'm sure Matthew will sell you some. |

Thanks Tim. Interestng comments. Will chase the Soniqs cable, although I will also make some i/c using the Duelund as I am intrigued by the review. They do a Dual cable which should make the construction a bit more straightforward

Re: WAD KEL84 as power-amp. Wattage of changed Resistors?
Hi Adrian,
2 Watt for R2/3 is a little excessive 1/4 watt is more than enough as it is only the grid leak of the ECF80. I tend to use MRS25 types for these applications. John |
