How about a WAD DAC kit?
Tube output, 24/192, NOS, quality power supply.
Hmmmmm? |

Re: How about a WAD DAC kit?
Sounds a good plan. One mod I'd like to suggest: could we make it 176.4 rather than 192? Asynchronous upsampling looks to me like causing as many problems as it solves.

Re: How about a WAD DAC kit?
I think the distinct lack of movement on this is due to the fact that a lot of us are presently making movements into dacs of the non-over-sampled description but are a long way from making any conclusions yet.
Overall i think that a dac kit of some description would be a great seller for WD. Definately stick some sort of glassware in there but im not in a place to say what sort of sampling rate would be best. How about making the sampling and filtering user definable/switchable? I would say two levels of power supply would be a good idea, or maybe anouther "box to add on later" supply like a cyrus psx thingy. That would be fun! Just my thoughts. Paul |

Re: How about a WAD DAC kit?
Hi-i agree.the wart power supply i got with my DAC was ok (quite good actually) but my switched mode supply is (a bit) better and not that expensive.
perhaps we need a "DAC shootout" ? might be interesting to try the tube buffer from another thread. Philip |
