Jon Allen's Deep River. Just preparing for seeing him (with a band this time; first saw him supporting Robert Cray with just his guitar) on Monday in Southsea.

Probably his best. Hope the vinyl is on sale at the gig!

Just in from a concert and feeling wonderful from the experience so thought I'd post about it. Have just seen Focus (70s Dutch prog rock band). They were superb, the sort of concert that covers you in a wave of sheer happiness. Have seen them several times before but tonight at Tavistock was the best by far. If it's your style of music they are well worth seeing.

After reading of the passing of Dallas Taylor http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...s-aged-66.html a few days ago I suddenly thought I've got one of their albums on vinyl which I've not played. Lo and behold it is Deja Vu bought at a fair a few years ago and overlooked. Wonderful stuff took me right back to 1970

Paul Jones on BBC R2. I usually don't find time and iplayer is OK; but FM is better! Why do the blues cheer me up?

Listening to it often leads to to my buying something.

Since my last post here (about Jon Allen) I can report I was correct to have high expectations for the concert and they were exceeded. Check out on You Tube if this is your kind of thing.

The Cellars at Southsea is a great venue; small enough to be intimate, big enough to get atmosphere (probably about 200 or so). Maybe I should start a thread about great and less great venues?

Starter for 10 - less great Manchester Central Convention Complex (formerly GMEX and before that the Central Station). Sounds like a train is coming as soon as the bass guitarist looks at his or her instrument never mind plays a note. I can't imagine why?

Great - see above!

F.
