My Pre4 kit arrived yesterday and I will order the parts today, may be a while before I get a chance to build it, work is crazy at the moment and long hours.

Evening folks back again, built my Pre4 CCS in March, been working away for several weeks which has been a pain, great help and service from Matthew, I fried a small transistor, solder to hot. Anyway with the very kind help of Bob Orbell and his design and build help with a voltage regulator board
I am rather happy with the end result, the Pre in standard is great and I have the transformer version to compare against, also excellent just different, the CCS Pre4 I find especially with Bob's touch of magic is amazing, no background noise even with ear against a Wilson Benesch Vectors driven by a Eigentakt amp, no hiss nothing, musical, spacious just lovely. I really love the look as well, the alloy and chrome, sooo nice.
I have not posted pictures as it needs a tidy, took a while as I was tired to find the transistor that I burnt so lots of components re soldered, anyone contemplating this one should grab one and run.

Glad you like the benifit of a regulated power supply Paul, if only more people would consider regulaters, especialy on the RIAA phono stage instead of large fancy capacitors, the regulator will bring the most rewarding results, less noise, more small detail and it would bring the WD phono to a very high level that would compete with high end units. It realy is about time that WD uprgaded the PSU to a high end fully regulated product and it would not cost the earth to change. Bob
