When you say it was working OK, do you mean that it was still working when you switched it off?
I suspect a short not blowing the fuses tho...... The fuse in my 845 of similar ilk is only a 3A type at the plug and 1.5 slow blows per side inside......

Two diodes seem to have failed causing the transformer to burn out.
Any suggestions for a replacement?
Supprisingly Ornec have not responded to my question about warranty!
It is not for sale! I will not be daunted by a little fire!
Back to listening to the Pogues, Rum Sodomy & the Lash on the 2A3.
Lenco of course!

YESSS!!!!

Way to go. I would guess that the rectifiers for the 840v supply to the 845s failed short circuit (they are the big, fat round ones at the back left of the power board)?

Replace each of them with two 1000v FREDS (I used IXYS DSE112 from Farnell, p/n 9359389) in series.

Regards

Per the other thread, increase this to three FREDS (they are actually 1200v) in series.

Nick or Global
Do you have the spec of the transformers?
The two do not seem just to feed either side equally.
Or am I not looking at it correctly?
If I am to get new trannys what would be "Best" specification.
Thanks ColinA :p

I can't remember what else that TX does, I know its 650-0-650 ish for the 845 B+, so I would suggest 250ma for that, it does power one of the 845 heaters, so that 10v @ 3A. I think it may also provide the voltage for the 845 bias, but not sure. That would make the other one provide the driver B+, the other 845 heater and the voltage to power the delay and relay circuit.

I have refrained from examining the transformers as the screws for the covers are a pain to get at!

I'll have a go and report ASAP.

You won't see anything on the TX's, but if you can see what the TX in question powers it will be a step towards producing a spec.
