yes I like the french way, we have a lot to learn.

britain is on the cusp of a melt down, its doddering along happily enough, but below the surface, many people crippled with debts, can't make ends meet, and all the jobs in manufacturing, if not already gone, are going, ditto with call centres, soon it will be a crisis, and no-ones listening, then again, it probably will go on forever like this, with just enough middle classes comfortable, I had a chat with a friend of late, and the comparisons with america are quite scary.

The price hike is a bit disproportionate, to use political/diplomatic speak, its too much in one hit. I won't be paying that much, I will import them, it will damage phil, rather ill judged, imo, but I know he has bills to pay.

check out prices here, if you get them surface, and miss the tax

there are a couple of mitigating facts on Phil's side, he's recently registered for VAT so that would have hiked the price and these prices are for the new improved super duper range of o/p txs, apparantly a lot better than the old ones

Hi-i ordered some parts from Phil and instead of 4 resistors they sent 10.

i phoned to say they had made a mistake and he said they often put more in the order !

Phil also said he gets a lot of job satisfaction helping us to complete our projects.

humm, well angela are doing the hammonds for $99 for the big output ones, its obviously nothing to do with manufacturing costs, that's around £60 each.

apparantly the price hike is going to be worldwide and only applies to the o/p transformers, persumably Angela and PartsConnexion have stock at the old prices, I think Hammond have made a commercial blunder in doing this, there are better products that will now be cheaper,

as I understand it, Philip was expecting about a 10% increase to cover the cost of copper not the 100% increase that Hammond applied

The cost of coper pipe doubled over a year, Domestic Hot Water Cylinders are 25% up.

The Chinease are driving the price of all industrial raw materials up so they can sell products into our market and put all our industry out of business because of labour costs, and morally they have no qualms about Sweat Shops, we have to pay numpties minimum wage. I've had so many people through my hands that weren't worth £1 and hour let alone over £5.
