It isn't entirely, as they lie or willfully mislead about what protection you are entitled to, so if it genuinely does go wrong, they will not help.

The way these companies do customer service now tells me all I need to know viz., if you can't even talk to someone to help, don't bother going there at all.

They have shot themselves in the foot, I am now boycotting ALL companies I cannot deal with someone I can see, or talk to easily.

As long as they continue to make large profits I doubt they will care about their customers.
They exist to make money, nothing more............

It seems to me that if several people have had good experiences with paypal during the course of their ebay trading then generally, logic would suggest that for every satisfied buyer/seller there is a satisfied seller/buyer. I acknowledge the problems Ian and Darren have had. Maybe it's become an issue for them owing to a hightened level of trading? I don't know. Obviously the fact that many transactions work perfectly has no impact on how paypal/ebay manage things when they go wrong. Certainly I'd be aggreived if I had suffered Ians experiences. I just want to keep this in perspective. Many ebay/paypal deals are concluded excellently, but not everyone has that happening to them, all the time. I'm sure Ian and Darren you've had loads of satisfactory deals. How ebay/paypal manage things when they go wrong is probably a very different issue.

Best wishes,

Greg

hi Greg, when it works, its pretty good, however, when it goes wrong, (and it will, there are many many jerks out there business-wise, whos morals are so low, that they have to teach me to even become that bad, ie. its not inherent in my good nature, and clearly paypal are low life) its so bad that it renders the good intolerable completely.

To put in perspective probably around 400 transactions, and perhaps 10 bad, but those 10 have 'graduated' to infinitely more stress and trouble than its worth.

We had to wait a month to get our money refunded by Paypal, after a transaction went wrong. To be fair to Paypal, this is their policy and the money was transferred back to our account after 30 days with no hassle whatsoever.

Now, we are hearing stories from friends (not regular sellers) who are having all kinds of problems, mostly with funds disappearing from accounts.
So Ian and Co. aren't alone.

its happening more and more, and I dislike it intensely.

What get me, is that I have just transferred some cash out, and guess how they treat it, I may be being pedantic, but it tells me everything.

your request to transfer funds is underway.

no, my order, to put my money into my bank, not please will you put it in if you feel like, but, its my cash, and I am requiring its credited to me, not requesting.

Well it looks like using Paypal as a buyer safely has just been dispelled for me now.

I bought an item for a little over £160, I never received, nor did the seller reply to any emails.

Paypal just refunded me £32.00, said they were unable to get anymore from him but if this changes in the future they will forward it onto my account.

Yeah right !!!

On another point, has any one noticed the new wave of scams on Ebay, I doubt you would notice them untill it's too late
