why does everyone want to try and do things on the cheap?
I thought the point of World Designs was to provide excellent products on the cheap!

Yes I am a novice at speaker building, but this regarding the gnostic arts - not the box costruction which will not be too great a challenge.

Truth is Ian, I don't think the ready made cabinets look very good. I'm happy to put in the effort if I can make something that looks better.

What I'm trying to do is also cover the audio bases at the same time - I don't want to have to build them twice

Cheers,

Andy

They can be made to look good, though.

The box is generally not regarded as affecting the performance of the HF unit. Cabinet design is optimised for the bass roll off of the bass unit. In some cases, 3-way 'speakers have a seperate chamber for the mid-range driver in order to optimise its response( if I remember correctly, one WAD design had a bass reflex enclosure for the bass driver and an open baffle mid-range).

The treble unit has its own rear enclosure so is not affected by what goes on inside the cabinet.

I had hoped to see some more feedback by now regarding the floorstander kit the (WD25T). SWMBO (Nikki) wants to build a pair as a joint xmass present if i help her with the build and finance it .She wants to know how speakers are built! ,I guess it will take me till december to save for the kits. Anyway before i take the plunge it would be nice to hear some opinions from members who have either got , used or heard them. Now that i got her to accept floorstanders in the lounge we would like a decent pair and if possable relegate the powered sub.

Co-operation = abundant WAF

There is, John and Jake the dog had the last copy of the build details, so it looks like we may be a "gang of three"

He tells me he is now happy and is ready to try some mods, I do hope everything is o.k, I heard the speakers driven by an 84 at a hi-fi show, and they are brill, they are such an easy load for a valve amp, it's like having a v8 under the bonnet, goes like hell on tick over.
