I was in a hotel about two weeks ago and they was replacing all the carpet in a bar, they had just got to laying the underlay, it was about 1 inch thich and looked exactly right. If i had been heading home and not out to the rigs i would of asked to buy a few square metres. shame, i was rather annoyed at the time.

I'm working in a hotel at the moment. The ground floor carpets are supposedly being swapped for wooden flooring in the near future.
Assumimg there is felt underneath( there certainly is in the bedrooms).
This should yield a decent amount of secondhand felt which although compressed should be useable. If anyone is interested I could maybe bring some to Eggfest. If no one expresses interest then I won't bother.

Hi Al,

Regardless of whether anyone else expresses an interest, I'd certainly grab a few square meters (from the outer edges of the rooms) for yourself. You may not need it now, but you don't know what project might interest you in the future. This stuff is increasingly difficult to source and for the type of speakers I've used and still do, I've not found anything better.

I'm still waiting on Neal regarding his contact for the stuff........any news please, Neal?

Best wishes,

Greg

I have a friend who has retired and his son now runs the carpet firm, no problem getting the carpet felt.
Some will be offcuts some will be off the roll.
Let me know what you want and I will deliver to the Eggfest.
Will.

will,

this is the really thick (upto 1 inch) natural carpet felt used mainly in hotels, is that the stuff you can source?

If so then put me down for 5 square metres. Off cuts, or roll would be fine and dandy. I will pay any costs happily.

Yes, I was at the fitters last week, said he can easily get it but I'm still waiting!

I'll give him one more chance on Monday and let you know.

What prices have you guys been quoted?

I need about 5 sqr metres.

Hi Neal,

OK, if your potential supplier comes up with the goods, I'll also go for 5 sq M. Otherwise we can go with Will's offer. I know Brian and Pete are also up for some but I'm not sure how frequently they visit here. If we could finally tie down which source we're going to use with some concrete prices, I could email them and obtain their order.

Best wishes,

Greg

I've talked to my friend tonight in the club that he fitted with 1" underlay. He said there was a large pile of offcuts, so if there needs to be any cut off the roll on average it would be cheaper than the roll price. I dont have a price for off the roll at the mo. but he has taken notes.
I have about 4m I bought from his Partner (offcutts) for £4.00 and my mate was distrought.

Right that's my supplied blown out!

Will can you get enough of this stuff?

As said, I need 5 sqr meters, 1/2" thick stuff would be good as it would allow for double layers where necessary.
