Very difficult to draw parallels with your speakers, though the point of the WD25A is to give audiophile performance on a budget.

I suggest you follow the kit progression in Hi-Fi World who will publish a 'review' of the speakers in the final stage. You should be able to get an idea of the performance from that.

Peter, do you intend demonstrating the new speaker kits at any of the shows this year, such as Bristol ?? After reading the article in HFW, I like the principle of the WD25 kits, and would seriously consider a pair, if I could somehow listen before buying. How do you think they would cope, being driven by a 20W 300B PSE WAD kit ?? A good match ??

If the prices on the Seas/Arena site are anything to go by, I can get the deluxe kit with the better tweeters, and a cabinet flat pack kit (which is MDF I assume, so we can finish with veneers of our choice) for a touch over £500. This is the price of a basic AN/E kit without any cabinet kit. Not as sensitive as the AN/Es, I know, but I like the idea of the simpler x-over too. You say there are only a couple of components used in the x-over of the standard version, but how much more complex is the x-over in the deluxe version ?? Any more info would be great. Cheers.

Hi Lee,

I like your presumptive ambition and would also like the answers to your questions, but I suspect we'll have to wait for the next edition of HFW when it'll be published. An advanced response from Peter would certainly be good and welcome but I'll understand if we have to wait.

Best wishes,

Greg

To be honest Greg, I would be more than happy to know if Peter intended to demo the 'speaker at any shows or venues anytime soon. Actually hearing a pair, maybe being driven by a valve amp', would obviously be more beneficial to me than some figures on a piece of paper, but maybe the Bristol show is too soon for Peter to arrange for WD. I suppose we will have to wait and see.

WD will be at the Bristol show demonstrating the WD25A. Other equipment yet to be decided/arranged. We still hope that we can find a resolution with WAD before then so that we can use a WAD stock amplifier.
