Re: Goodbye to an old friend.
Hi All
I tend to find the Shuguang EL34 to be a touch grainy but that may just be the basing as I think the EL34B can run hotter than the standard El 34 I think there’s a Shuguang EL34A Version of this valve as well But when I have an EL34 night I prefer to plug in my original yellow labeled mallards’ which are now used sparingly But my preferred valves are my Russian 6P3S and the 6P3E not forgetting the 5881 same valve as the 6P3 E . And my Shuguang KT 66 which tends to be my favorite in this amp and if you are wondering how I can use all the different valves in the J.E labs I built it with a switched bias to switch the el34s the other valves all run at the same bias at around 54 mA with the EL34s running at around the 70mA mark The J.E Labs single-ended Running the 6P3S https://ibb.co/WxNtSwF And to bring the thread back on topic my plans were to rebuild the J.E Labs amp as monoblocks using the KT88 or 6550 as I have all the heavy bits still in a box o bits waiting for the day will it happen Colin
