Re: Buy in haste!?
Steve
Buy direct from CineMag. You will probably pay £25 in VAT & handling charges. Not compared them to the Pre III step-ups, so can't comment. Similar to what I remember the S&B's sounding like though. As Will says go for the one with 3 windings. (Will has some too!). Regards

Re: Buy in haste!?
That's interesting about the Cinemag Txs.
I was advised on another forum to check these out. I'm going to be buying the hybrid Pickering which is low output, so needs a step-up device. As the Cinemags are cheap, just over £50 a pair, I might as well buy these and the battery powered Pickering PLZ. Does anyone know if they fit inside the Phono11 with no problems? |

Re: Buy in haste!?
Hi Gerry,
I should have looked at the Cinemag site first, yes they will fit easily. There seems to be two types of fixings, as I have the WAD issue step-up clamps I could use those, which type of fixing have most opted for? Also why is the 3440A preferred over the APC which is stated as a moving coil Tx, apart from the fact that the A has 3 windings, is that the only difference. Famous last words but I will be unlucky to get hit with any import duties, I'm certain that will change when we move to France and don't even mention those poor sods in the Netherlands, they get hit every whichway. |
