Re: Oscilloscope
if you want to build one the babani book is available from amazon for £4. also in the book are : test bench amplifier, high resistance voltmeter, transistor tester, capacitance meter, AF frequency meter, analogue probe, CMOS probe, TTL probe. there's a load of similar books if you do a search on amazon for 'test equipment construction'
ive never bought a 'proper' one so someone else will have to post about that and the relative merits |

Re: Oscilloscope
does anyone else have a spare oscilloscope going cheap. i am quite happy to pay but don't need anything to fancy. as long as it gives me an idea of whats going on i don't mind what state its in. i'm in dronfield near sheffield and will probably be at eggfest or whatever its called these days.
thanks richard |

Re: Oscilloscope
Cheers Andrew, its to look at SS rect noise (prompted by a paper that Mark sent me). I also need a delaying timebase, hence the interest in the 7000 series.
Its a excuse for another toy as well.

Sorry Stu - it was a question of who came back on it, but having said Martin could have it, he hasn't contacted me since. (??) The problem is that it would have to be collect from me in St Neots - posting it would be out of the question. Keith |

Re: Oscilloscope
Hi Keith, no probs, was joking about the sniping!
let me know what happens anyway. I drive 100's of miles a week so I aint bothered about driving!! Quick question to all: Im still reading up on these, Im presuming that they are able to handle the high-voltages that a valve amp uses, or do I need to look for something in particular? |

Re: Oscilloscope
I'm sure you will receive a more knowledgeable answer, but certainly for my new digital tektronix I will have to buy some new probes to handle valve level voltages (anything over 300v).
these are not cheap £200 ea for passives rated to 1000v and £400 ea for differential actives ones rated to 2kV, a pair of which are the same as the price of the scope, which was a little unexpected! Hopefully any secondhand equipment will come with additional probes so its worth checking? |
