Thanks for the info Shane Mine say Kerorm on them so that would explain why they have failed. If I fitted the newer driver would it need the cross over reworking as well or does it use the same cross over.

No, the crossover is the same for both units.

The seller has confirmed that they are the newr type and says that he renovates Mission speakers all the time and also says the same as you Shane that the early type were prone to failure and are not made any more.

I see that he has 11 units for sale, so he's no doubt familiar with the problem. Is his Buy-It-Now price for one unit or for a pair? If it's for one, it might be worth getting a price from Mission, since I seem to remember they quoted me £65 for a pair, although this was about 18 months ago.

Since I wrote that, the number available has dropped to 10, so the price must be for 1 unit.

The number dropped because I bought one and presumed that it was a pair I was buying as i didn't read the listing properly

I have sent him an email asking to clarify if its a pair or single unit and if its a single I will ask if I can get out of the sale as they work out too expensive

Got a reply and the listing is for one drive unit but he has agreed to let me have a pair for £70 including postage so I'm going for them

Worth it. They're good little speakers.

I know this is an old thread, but for information, I just got replacements through from Mission, and they cost GBP 21.51 plus VAT and postage, so Mr Ebay is ripping you off. Contact number can be found on their website

NOTE

Slartibartfast's drivers will have totally different new cones, not the old unstable Keraform material that suffered from the cone cry (with a vinegar smell), which eventually kills the Bass units (even never used units when kept in storage).

Missions newer replacement driver cones look nothing like the old ones.
