Nice ariel baggy, i restored one of those about 15 years ago, it was the traditional maroon when i bought it, i did some research through the club to find it was sold as an export model in red and black..so had to buy more paint.. spent a year doing it.. i've seen it at quite a few old bike shows since i sold it about 10 years ago, just as i restored it

your looks the same as my huntmaster ?

it ran very well...i just hated riding it... burman gearbox..mmm

i've always had modern-ish bikes to ride and older ones to cherish

got a v-rod and a laverda triple at the moment

still got a burman grease filled gearbox.. but in the morgan.. well.. waiting to go in the morgan when its put together...

cheers
steve

The frame/running gear were developed for the 1956 500 Fieldmaster twin but the Huntmaster 650 twin and Hunter 500 single used the same stuff, hence their looking much the same.

It has to be admitted that Burman boxes were not always quick and the GB model has to be the slowest in the universe. However, the heavy flywheels make the engine slow too so if you use the box as you would a car crash transmission, all works well and silent changes can be made. Unfortunately on my box, it is only the changes which are silent. The rest of it sounds like the Antarctic ice-pack breaking up. Another job for the winter.

Would be interested to learn more of the Morgan - it's one car I have never owned although there was a time when I hankered after an Aero with water-cooled Matchless. This was owned by a girlfriend's brother but he would not sell, at least, not for the amount of money which I was able to offer.:p

Baggo.

the morgan is a 4 wheeler... unfortunately,.. i too would have loved an aero

mines a 1937 flat rad 4/4.. bought in boxes just before i sold the ariel, i've got the engine and gear box rebuilt and a new chassis ready.. but stopped work on it when i got divorced around a year later.. its all piled up in the garage waiting....

Yep, HRD became Vincent.
prince of darkness? is your name Lucas?

sorry to spoil, but if you are after the clanking oil dripping stuff, you'd be better off with an italian bike.
