just a thought...

there may be users that have joined in the last month or so that fully intend to post but haven't got round to it yet....they would be in the zero post category.

would it be prudent to get clever with the select statement to avoid deleting them.

Thanks Bob! It’s true to say tough that the vast majority of those posts are over five years old. I’ve changed and the world has changed, and as a result I don’t have much to contribute these days, but I still like to keep in touch.

I suggest you email those you intend to delete before you do so.

With the criteria selected (ie never posted, and not visited for over 5 years) I don't feel that the above suggestion is necessary.

On occasions, I have become a member of a forum because I needed a particular piece of information not available to non members. To be honest, in those cases, I've probably forgotten what those forums are, so being deleted is no big deal.

So, I'm in favour of the "cull".

No problem, to clarify, both conditions would need to be met to be deleted

I am proposing to delete all Members who have not a) visited in the last 5 years AND b) have never posted.

I’m not calling you selfish. I think you have interpreted what I said incorrectly. I was agreeing with your previous point and saying that if you are not a member, or have lost your membership, the forum is still available to read. In the past, some people have joined simply to obtain some service or personal gain and having done so, have made no contribution since. In other words their interest is purely selfish as they have no interest in the community from which they are benefitting.

You’re quite right, Greg. I stand corrected.
