Re: WD88VA didn't survive move
OK, thanks to Bob I now have some spare fuses, so I tried with just two tubes on the left hand side. No fireworks at first, while it was warming up, but after 30s or so there was a flash and pop from the leftmost tube. I hit the power as quick as I could.
Fuse is still intact, but I don't know about the valve though. :-( The one that popped was distinctly warmer than its mate when I removed them. John, are you still doing repairs? If not, any recommendations for anyone else who could take a look? |

Re: WD88VA didn't survive move
Hi Wiggers,
Yes still am, do you wish me to have look at it? Was the flash and pop from the same valve position or the other one on that side. If so you may have had another faulty valve, not unheard of. PM me accordingly John |

Re: WD88VA didn't survive move
Would be great if you could take a look. Are you still in Birch Rd? I have you in my contacts still!
It's the same location as before, far left. Also the same location that failed when it was new. |

Re: WD88VA didn't survive move
Wiggers, I had all 4 valves running in my amp yesterday for about 10 minutes and all was fine, if one has blown, but I hope not, I may have another, hopefully it will be the capacitor connected in series with resistor, you must be able to test the voltages before proceeding, but I see John is going to have a look for you. Re: WD88VA didn't survive move
It's OK, I used two of the three remaining from my set to test. I daren't touch yours yet, want to make sure all is well before installing them!
