Re: WAD Transformer Numbers Help Please
Hi all,
I am sure that all transformers with the black paper around the core and gold hand writing were made by Ripley Transformers of Ripley in Surrey, who I think are now part of a larger group on the south coast. I think Richard wrote somewhere on the BB who they now are. More info: 2A3 Optx - Design nr 7525 2A3PSE 2K/8R 300B PP Optx - Design7636 300BPP 6R O/P These have cores wrapped in beige masking tape with white type labels and I believe were made by a company in or near Cambridge. The ideal person to give us the info is of course Nick Lucas. I will see if i can persuade him to release the info. John aka Dr john |

Re: WAD Transformer Numbers Help Please
Hi All,
Ripley Transformers who are now merged with Grandchain did many of the earlier TXs for WAD (Dxxx numbers). I spoke with them on the phone and the possibility of supplying replacements lies with Graham Luscombe. He was out when I called but can be contacted on email as below. http://www.grandchain.co.uk/ E mail us on: sales@grandchain.co.uk Telephone: +44 (0) 1273 813 345 Facsimile: +44 (0) 1273 814 153 Post: Grandchain Ltd Maple House, Laughton Road, Ringmer, Lewes, East Sussex BN8 5SY United Kingdom. Any WAD enquiries must go to Graham Luscombe. Please let us know if they are able to help as it will be useful for other members. Rich |

Re: WAD Transformer Numbers Help Please
I've just removed a failing OPT from my K5881 (purchased 1998). On the underside of the laminations is a white paper label with the number 598002. I wonder if this number can be read literally, as per "the 2nd unit produced in May 1998" ??
I've contacted Geoff at SP Wound Components with a view to getting a replacement made. I haven't removed the other OPT as it isn't faulty, and it's not worth doing so just to look at a label! |

Re: WAD Transformer Numbers Help Please
Just some quick info; Geoff at SP Wound says the nymbers on his transformers are just batch numbers. I had a lengthy conversation with him the other week and it sounds the woman who winds his audio transformers knows the all very well, he also had the WAD 5881. BTW, he has some transformers on the shelf, though not the driver tx for the 300B PP!
