<bump> is like spam. Imagine if everyone did it.

If there's a reason for bringing a thread to members' attention, such as extra info, a deadline for a meeting, a price drop on a sale, a further request for a reply or help etc, then say it in a post and the thread will re-surface with new interest.

If it's simply to push your thread to the top it's not polite and will be counter-productive so please don't do it.

Rich

David,

For goodness sake don't be so 'precious'. He was coming across like a grumpy old git, and besides, it was said tongue-in-cheek. Jeez, some people are *so* touchy

Hi Richard,

I appreciate that - no problem, message received and understood. It's nice when someone explains things properly to you, rather feeling the need to make snide remarks

David,

You are also not 'endearing' yourself.

Controversy? All I'm doing is discussing my forum, which I was given permission to do by Peter C. You on the other hand insist on sticking the oar in at every opportunity. Hey, I guess there's nothing like success to make some people jealous!

You obviously don't like me for whatever reason (although I have never done anything to you) so I shall ignore you from now on - no problem

I have to agree with Philip here. I think everyone who wants to know now does, so time to stop the tub-thumping. I signed up with TAOS a couple of months ago, and whilst there has been quite a lot of interesting comment there is also a lot of bickering and a lot of "laddish" humour and language, which I have to say does get a bit tiresome.

I am not "spouting on" about my new forum, Philip. All I'm doing is responding, perfectly politely and fairly, to some people's snide remarks. However I take your point.

I admit that my initally 'bumping' the thread was inappropriate and impolite, and I accept what Richard has said. It won't happen again. The rest of what I have been subjected to here though is merely the jealous behaviour of certain petty people with an agenda.

I will, however, say no more on this subject.

Shane,

I take your point, however bickering will always occur on forums. We do our best to stop it. There's certainly a lot less of it on TAOS than on some other places!

As for the humour thing, lads will be lads. We allow an element of "laddish" humour because that's the nature of a forum populated in large by young (ish) blokes exchanging like-minded chat. Whilst we seek to have an air of professionalism, certainly on the hi-fi side, we don't want a 'stuffy' po-faced atmosphere on TAOS. Maybe it's an age gap thing?

Anyway thanks for your input. If you have any reservations in future please do not hesitate to PM me on TAOS, where I will always listen to constructive criticism and act on it appropriately

Remarks no doubt aimed your way because of the way you have conducted your campaign !

Marco, that you should say, 'what I have been subjected to here is merely the jealous behaviour of certain petty people with an agenda.'

Why do you think these people are petty?

What have they to be jealous about, as you see things?'

I am interested.

Gentlemen,

I have no wish to discuss this matter any further. I have said what I had to say. Subject closed, as far as I am concerned.
