Re: KLS9 replacement tweeters
Is it just a case of unscrewing the screws marked in red and then dropping the new one in? Or, is it possible that the coil is riveted under those screws? (Loath to take it apart at this stage without replacements!)

Re: KLS9 replacement tweeters
I’ve never done the job myself but believe it is a matter of just unscrewing the four screws which should detach the face plate and may detach the voice coil as well. If there are additional fixings, being Audax they should be screws. The voice coil will need some delicate soldering but it should be a straight forward job.
Why not dismantle the tweeter you already know is faulty so you discover what the process will be? Please let us know how you get on as this is a topic not previously covered on the forum. Thanks. |

Re: KLS9 replacement tweeters
Looking again at that voice coil replacement, it would appear no soldering will be involved and the four screws will also align the coil possibly with two locating lugs. I don’t believe this tweeter uses ferrofluid, so the swap over should be very simple. Undo the screws, detach the faceplate and lift the old voice coil clear to fit the new one.

Re: KLS9 replacement tweeters
Hi
I have ordered replacement tweeters from this firm: http://cadaudio.dk as they have the TW025M0s in stock! When they arrive, I will take apart the dead tweeter that I have and post pictures. If it looks easy enough I might repair them in any case then I have some replacements in stock, or can sell them on! Many thanks for the help everyone Jonathan |

That’s a great result, Jonathan. Good that CAD Audio still had stock.

Re: KLS9 replacement tweeters
Tweeters have now arrived and have been fitted. Next step is to dismantle the broken one and I will post images up once that has been done.
Thanks everyone for the help and the interest. Jonathan |

Re: KLS9 replacement tweeters
I have now dismantled the dead tweeter. The old one is held together by 4 small Phillips type screws. The new replacement ones use an Alan bolt. Having removed the screws, I expected the centre part to come away, but in fact the whole top section separates from the magnet. The voice coil was held to the top section by some mild glue - prised away easily. I could not find anything obviously wrong with the coil, aside from some debris inside.
Reassembly is easy, provided you remember to align the dimples on the top of the magnet with the holes on the reverse of the coil mount. Hope this helps someone in the future. Jonathan |

Re: KLS9 replacement tweeters
Just to mention, the screws you refer to as Phillips are in fact Pozi drive, you will see 4 small lines on the surface, the wrong driver in either will damage the head because the shape's are totally different. Bob
