For Chassis you could try Bluebell Audio.

http://www.bluebellaudio.com/

They also supply Hammond transformers and a good selection of other components.

Hi-at this very moment i am looking at an e-bay site that was linked to regarding valve top caps (as on 807 if you go that route) and they do several chassis, some with pre drilled holes for valves/sockets etc.

Let us know if any of them interest you cos we could possibly save on carriage charges by combining orders.

You can also make small individual orders direct to Hammond themselves.

Hi,
Thanks for the links, I am thinking about a steel plate mounted on a wooden plinth possibly but I also need to look into transformers / size etc and how many components will be mounted on the top - i.e choke etc.
(Might have the power supply on a seprate chassis using GZ34's) Would also like meters on the amps displaying bias current as well as power supply voltage but no-where seems to stock 1940's style panel meters?
Where does the HiFi industry get them from?!

Also looking into SE vs P-P, head is spinning at the mo, so going to have a coffee then back to the Internet!

Hi-i would (AM) waiting to get all the hardware before deciding on how big to make the chassis.

that way you can move bits around until you get it right before the cutting and drilling (and the bleeding Andrew).

i will be going for an alloy top plate,NOT steel !

firstly the material is easier to work with and secondly it is better electrical wise (so says Morgan Jones). If you have not got his books it would be worthwhile,i think WD now sell them.

Hi-i have heard from this e-bay supplier and the alloy top plate on the one i was interested in was only 2mm thick, too thin for me !

Hi kt66se-my best advice is to wait.

you obviously dont really know what you want so DONT rush into building any old amp.

if you want to build something as a learning curve (as i did) then thats a bit different but make it something you can use (in a second system for instance).

Hi-no idea what they sound like but 100db sensitivity would make them suitable on that parameter.

have you got a pair lined up ?

http://www.shopping.com/xPF-Klipsch_Heritage_Heresy_III

link gives some details.
