Good to see the Hammond choke upgrade is liked
Here is how it happened

It was just a pure chance I fitted it when I was upgrading the PSU II to feed the CF Pre
So had I not fitted the wrong Zener Diode which gave me 100 volts instead of the required 200volts this lead me too recheck the HT across the WAD Choke and checking the DCR so all was fine with the choke
So fitted the correct Zener this time and all was good 210volts to CF Pre
I then checked the phono HT, which has always been a bit high so knowing the DCR of the WAD Choke the light came on, wait a minute I have a Hammond 157G Choke, which has a higher DCR so fitted it in place of the WAD choke phono HT drops a little
Well you know the outcome of this upgrade

Honestly it's £20 well spent - and such an easy modification. I've just spent hours carefully replacing caps, resistors and wiring in my Kecl82 in order to get a real upgrade in the sound. You'll only have to solder two wires

Cheap.

I've just ordered two chokes for my 833a amp and they weigh 9.5Kg each.

Ha ha, when did you last go to a quality pub?
Maybe beer is cheap in Nottingham because of the risk of getting shot on a night out
