The KEL80 had printed circuit boards. BUT, if I were building a pair from scratch I'd use tagboards for the components like RS 433-703

https://uk.rs-online.com/web/p/barri...3703/?sra=pstk

OR, I'd get a small sheet of FR4 glass-reinforced epoxy laminate material and a large packet of turret tags and make a custom board.

I had a look at the Hammond web site, and the nearest I could find was 1650R,

which is 5K and 100W max.

http://www.hammondmfg.com/1608.htm

Sowter might do one, but at a price.

Excellent result, I knew the info would be somewhere. The Hammond 1650R will do the job nicely
Thanks to all involved

John

Wow! Thanks everyone for all your help. Also, thanks Greg for digging out the information.

I've been a member of the forum since 2010 but have not been very active(!) until now.

regards,
Steve.

I’ve been thinking about this and about the Kel80 info acquired for Steve from an old copy of HFW. When I have a bit of time, I could go through some of the old magazines and record in a thread here the spec for the various components relating to historical WAD kits. This could be marked as sticky and added to where there are omissions, or a moderator could convert it into an FAQ thread.

Thoughts anyone?

John/Greg,

I would have thought that would be useful.
Anyone who either needs to repair an old WAD amp or indeed wants to do a recreation of one like Steve, can use the info to find a close equivalent from any transformer suppliers current production.

Or even look for a potential upgrade as in the case of the Sowters that some fitted to old KT88/6550 amps.

Good idea.

Phil.

That is a good point Richard,

Like with the current situation, the information could be released at the discretion of the moderators. Even if the info is kept "private" it would still be a worthwhile exercise having a properly compiled list of the specs.

I have now discussed this with Matthew. We have agreed that I will collate the information from the pages of old HFW magazines and it will be stored with other archive material. Specifications of historical kits and components may be made available, upon request and on a discretionary basis.
