I am pretty sure electric will be the way but....
We will need more nuclear power stations whether liked or not.

Added to the fact I have an electric car, compounds the felony.

Here in Peterborough we are still very heavily into diesel, walking into the City Centre a dozen taxis can be seen parked-up with their engines running, there is a sign on the pavement to switch-off engines. I don't know if there is a reward for using fuel in the taxi business? P-ssing in the wind comes to mind if we want to make a difference.
Same with morning City traffic jams, parents taking their kids to school, I guess it saves on buying shoes.

Chris.

Diesel is still the preferred fuel for me at the moment, 2000cc with DPF stop start and 65 plus MPG, we also have a 997cc three cylinder petrol for short trips, like shopping but is hard to get more than 38 MPG, and two electric bicycles, yes, the future is electric, Bob

Maybe but I won’t be holding my breath. A tiny amount of wintery weather here this morning and the electricity’s off. Electricity comes back on and the internet is off. In my experience there’s very little spare capacity on the grid, we get this every winter several times a year. Plus, only 40% of cars have off-road parking for a home charger, and when did you last see a vacant kerb-side charging point or anyone installing them along the road side? Even if they install a few they won’t be convenient for many users and will lead to arguments from frustrated drivers waiting to use them.

You are quite correct Richard, but this is for the government to sort out, how, I don't know, but it is, and will happen . Bob

Here's an interesting article on the latest car numbers and types of fuel so far... (scroll to the last graphic for a quick summary),
