A definate improvement Bob, and it's far more immune to picking up hum than the 2, which is a good thing!

I haven’t got the CF Pre 2 up and running to busy decorating and tiring to fit new carpets which is taking me forever so all the hi if is packed away for now and I will be sorting out a new rack system for it All
I have still to make up the power leads with the new plugs I got from farnall looks like a bit of a pain to solder these i fear

Hi Colin, they are easier than 7 pin din,. Let us know what you think when you get back to normal, just for reference I have put my PSU back to series ii spec. and using a 200 volt zener for the Pre C/F as in Neal Gibbons FAQ, and it doe's seem to sound better. BOB

Now that is interesting because when Peter C first brought out PSU III, it buzzed and in consequence he upgraded so it could comfortably handle both Pre and phono III at the same time.

Yes Greg, but Peter was not using a C/F pre, it was the new pre3, I did a few small tests and found the H/T was changing at the anode in the pre C/F, not by much, but going back to the ll values and adding the zener, the H/T is now very stable. BOB

Where did you get your 200 volt zener Diode From cant seem to find them only 5w 200v will that do

Yes Colin, that's what I used 5w, the orig. 100v was only 3.5w, don't just put the zener in without changing the resistors, it will go pop. Do you have the II C/D?, if not I have one I will send to you. BOB
