No, not heard that thermio. Would be a class act if they did though. It is amazing, when you listen to seminal, class leading groups, such as The Jam, how many other groups must have modelled themselves on them over the years. The latest award-winning group to sound very much like them are the Kaiser Chiefs ("Employment" is a very good album BTW). It is all just reinvention I suppose, but it would be nice to see the old trio back on the boards after all these years, showing the new kids on the block how it was done before they were even thought of. I think Paul and Bruce would have a hard time pulling Rick away from his new found love of woodworking and his antique furniture restoration business though.

Just listened to "Mindbomb" a couple of times. I am in two minds whether or not this is a better album than "Dusk". I think "Dusk" may have the edge musically, but lyrically and atmospherically, "Mindbomb" does it for me. Almost 20 years on, it is still very poignant and the lyrics never fail to prove to me what a tremendous "observer" and straight-talker Matt Johnson really is. He is very underrated as an artist IMO. I can't fault any of his work. I suppose that's why I own everything he has ever done.

Charlie Mingus Ah Um

Lights down low, wine, valves, open baffles, idler drive. Mellow mood.

Purr-fect.

Matt Johnson is one underrated artist. I remember a story about him stealing £1/4m from the record company and they thought he'd just gone off to squander it. Then he came back with the infected videos. May have just been one of those myths following the shock-horror of the infected albums artwork but, either way - the album and the videos were pretty damn fine. Not to keen on the 'Hanky Panky' album though.

Saw Goldfrapp on Jools Holland over the New Year and thought again I must try an album so what’s best to start, enjoyed KT Tunstall as well.

Black Cherry and Supernature are similar in as much as they rehash hoary old glam-rock riffs in sleazy, raunchy electro way. I prefer Supernature by a nose, it seems a bit more finished, there are so many little references to great eighties pop records for anoraks like me, it is a great album.

Felt Mountain is a kind of sprawling collage of samples from all over the place, from Ennio Morricone to Shirley Bassey I didn't like it much, but you might.
