Re: Quad 11 Problem !
Hi Pierre-thanks for your reply.
i note your comments and i will check them out. i did try some GZ37 before i had the "red" valves and i think that may not have helped.but they are fixed now with new GZ32 (Jibbles again) and they certainly sound OK. Philip

Re: Quad 11 Problem !
Hi Philip,
Good thing, use real GZ32 or GZ34, they are easy to find although not cheap I reckon. Experiences with rectifiers is not good since they all have different voltage drop. One thing you must be very careful also (I forgot to mention previously) with Quads is the mains adapter. It's got 3 positions and there is a reason why, it is the tube heater tension which must fit properly. To make it short, I wondered why the sound of my Quads was missing sound envelop for several months, it was due to a lack of temperature (I measured 5,9V instead of 6.3V) and it is so evident. What are Jibbles, never heard of those? Regards Pierre |

Re: Quad 11 Problem !
Hi Pierre
Jibbles is the name of an e-bay seller !! he sells a lot of valves and his prices were good. not sure what you mean about the mains adaptor my Quads now have an IEC socket. The socket is wired straight to the transformer 240v post and my heaters actually measure 6.6v with my DMM. Philip

Re: Quad 11 Problem !
Jibbles seems to have given up, don't see him at all now on ebay,
it's a bit sad I bought a lot off him,

Re: Quad 11 Problem !
Hello Philip,
Pity for the Jibbles, I though it was something I didn't know . Concerning the main adaptor, indeed I was speaking of the original. But 6.6V is within the accetable 5% deviation and it is on the right side (it is not good for the tubes when it is below ) Best regards Pierre |
