Hi All
Well I have just been looking through my stash of capacitors for some suitable Decupling Caps for C13/14/15/16 and found some 10uf and 22uf of the correct diameter with the correct pin pitch
And find the leg diameter of all the caps is just that bit too large to go through the holes in the PCB that’s just bloody greatso will have to drill out the bloody holes to fit them as well as the resistors I have why can’t designers of this stuff do it to a standard size this build is now becoming irritating before it is started and now may never be build any time some sod it moving on to something different

WARNING!!!!!!!
Be careful drilling out holes on a phono 3S PCB as they are Plated Through Holes (PTH) and you may/will destroy the through hole plating.
What values/spacing do you want Colin and I will look through my stash and see what I have in stock?

John

Come on Colin, these boards are a piece of p**s to put together, I have even used 68uF in C13-14 with no problem. Bob

Hi Bob
It is not the build that’s the problem it is the bloody legs of the caps that won’t go through the holes in the PCB

Question, is it a new board or a used one Colin ? if used it may be solder residue in the through holes, a sod to completely remove, if new I am sure John will help with the new capacitors . Bob

Hi bob/all
Yes, it's a new board the caps I have are rubycon with a dia of 15mm but a larger value of 22uf @ 450volts it seems to be the bigger the voltage the thicker the leads are as a 15mm 200 volt fits. it looks like I will have to find a cap with a Dia of 10 or 12mm 400volt I hadn’t even considered the lead Dia between a 10 to 15mm cap would be any different for 400/450volts at 10/22uf values
Colin

Thanks, Bob hold my address and I will get back to you if needed as waiting for reply pm from john
I may just order from RS but still not sure if I should stay with the 10uf or go with the 22uf if they help with improving the decupling more
Colin
