My Grills will be solid oak with cut-outs and steel mesh fastened on from the back.
I don't care if it affects sound quality cos I won't be listening to them with the grills on. Their only purpose will be to protect them from knocks, prodding infants fingers and knocks.

On that 'note' Magnets would probably not do as the grills could be knocked off or sideways into the soft rubber surround so I think I would prefer strong clips or studs with nice brass knurled nuts
