Never had any problems removing the valves, just gently rock them back and forth and they slip out easily. In the picture I have valve art 300bs in. but am now using TJs with plate diss set at 23 Watts. Lovely :-)

I'm glad there've been no problems using care with the glass envelopes. I reckon the manufacturers would have kittens, or at least not honour warranties if you told them about this. Leverage from the top of a 300B will translate to something nasty lower down, they're just not manufactured with this treatment in mind. But, as has been said, if not rolling then if it only happens a couple of times in their life this should be ok.

I suppose this is just a different version of some people being paranoid about soldering Jupiter caps or screw heads being in line. This happens to be something that grates with me. No big deal.

But the way; the WE's are appreciating tax free on my shelf thank you, they aren't going on ebay!

Hi, thanks for the kind comments!

I've had this amp for 12 years and the only time I 'lost' a valve was when some cleaning was performed on it with a vacuum cleaner hose....Ahem! Not by me you understand

The CVC's in the pic are the original valves from 12 years ago, I don't use them now! I bought them along to the 'meeting of the clones' just to see where they stood in the 300B league table, bottom! But they are worn out! I've started to use the EH gold grids since the meet back in October changing from JJ's my long standing favorite.

I like the sunk mounting and a gentle rock of the valve from under the waist causes no problem in removing them and I've done this many time now with no issues, famous last words!

My amp did come with the original blue LCR's but I purchased the black Ansar's from Nick when they where introduced. I think only the very first amps had the blue ones.

Have to agree with Greg about the WE's, at the price they are sold at I can't see any merit in them!

The reality of the situation with the WE's is that they are appreciating on my shelf but I can't sell them! The boxes are stampted "not for resale". They do work rather better in my WE91 amps and do get used for some types of music but there's no way I'd have purchased a pair and be happy.
