Default Re: slippery slidey compatability

here's my update

so i got one of vics arms a while ago and started using it with a garrard 401 mounted in mdf. my previous arm was an origin live silver which i felt was a big improvement over a modded rb250. going to vics evolution arm was a further improvement. i would say the sound became more fluid and organic leaving the ol silver sounding mechanical.

i just received a slate deck with a universal arm mount and have got it up and running with the garrard and evo arm. darren also made me an adapter to fit the evo arm to the universal mount. it still needs a bit of fine tuning but again there has been a noticable improvement in the sound. to my ears at least. a very substantial improvement in fact.

the sound is now obviously much clearer and sharper but not in a way that is at all fatiguing. there is far more detail but at the same time dynamics, rythmn and timing have improved a lot to. i fell i am having my cake and eating it as usually you seem to improve one of these at the expense of the other. all this and with great coherence as well. i am a happy bunny !

Thanks for the update Richard. It's good to know that your effort was worth it..... Are you still using the same cart? The Pickering, or have you joined the 103 fold....

Best....

Superb......

I think the Pickering is so good that I bought another for my RPM9.....

I will eventually try one on my newley replinthed GL78.....

May even try out one of the more expensive Pickerings, as I already have the moving coil step up device from the same seller....

Enjoy.....
