Default Re: 6550 on ebay

in about 400 ebay transactions, I don't know how many purchases, I recall I had one item come without the sender having received cash for it, ie. he just posted it after I won it.

incredibly trusting, I am a decent person, and paid him, however how many others would? I would like to think the majority of people, but I ain't so sure, now.

back to 6550? or an offshoot thread?

anyway, hmm, probably wortha punt at £150, trouble is, if you have to spend on it, you may as well get a worker for the extra cash.

I bet there are a few thinking its just an easy fix. may well be.

I fear people are too obsessed with would be bargains, and far too preoccupied with money for the sake of it. ie supermarket ads saying how wonderful it is that they are a penny cheaper than everywhere.

i think its time for a paradigm shift from preoccupation with money, to preoccupation with mutual benefit of all people, and eliminate monetarism, and simply replace with people's good. alas, that's probably either undoable logistically, or too advanced/enlightened for mundane earth

it dismays me to hear on the news whnever something good is promised the reporter says '...but who will pay for it? how is it to be afforded??? ' ... the answer is in reality, we pay too much for substandard services, and should have world class ones, because 20% of people are creaming off in their own pocketses 80% of the taxed wealth, and there is loads of it available, we just cut them out of the equation.

I dont wish to sidetrack it. But that's reality, and if people don't like it or won't listen, or simply wish to do their own thing and aren't ready to consider the needs of the many, so be it. I understand if they feel powerless and simply the need to seek out their own goals, which isn't wrong in itself. so don't think I am attacking, I am only attempting to highlight what's going on.

At least I have said my piece. its why the roads and anytiing publically funded is in disarray, as the cash doen'st get spent on it, it goes in individuals pockets, but they are so thick they don't realise they still have to drive on these roads and have their children's after school groups shut down, or run the risk of increasing random knife/gun crime, partly caused by inadequate living conditions, greed, and envy, can you entirely blame them if they have nothing, and then no police don't come as quick as they are all shut up inside taking social engineering classes and managing, and there is far less, as the 'adviser' parasites get all our money that should be on front line officers....ad inf.

ah well, out of prophetical mode....

happy hippy solstice love and buddha peace to all for Christs unofficial birthday....christmas spirit all the year round...people matter most

some buddhist/universal truths.

life has bad parts
bad parts are caused by desire
life/all things are temporary
everything is in constant change...nothing stays the same
things are not reality, they are the brains interpretation of reality, all is really an illusion
Other people are me

Not too unhappy with ebay, tbh.

I wouldn't touch this 6550. The text in the advert struck me as overplaying the possible simplicity of the fix. All the time I was reading it I was thinking, "well if it's that simple just get it fixed."

to be honest my first thought was that if it went for about a hundred quid it would be quite good, it would give room to cover the cost of most problems,

John.
On the power supply board should there be four HT smoothing caps, two beneath and two on top. I can't remember.

Hi Terry,

As you can see below, I found it easier to fit one above and the remaining three below the board.

Thanks John.
I am not in the market for a 6550 amp, but if the seller could say that the transformers are o.k and the choke, then with the chassis it's worth £100. As things stand it's too expensive.
The WD88xl with 6550 valves is in a differant league.

Errrm - debatable, all a matter of taste! And I've heard both!

John.
Cause it's a matter of taste, and "my amp is better than your amp" discourse is pointless. As long as they are valve amps of course!!.
