Doh, forgot about Phil's video (probably a Betamax or N2000 knowing his age ) audio outputs going low, yes, that's the only case I know of that has been affected.

Did you solve it in the end Philip?

Hi Phil.
Next time you have it all out (oh er misses!!) Open up the phone plugs at the video end and put in a 1k resistor in the sig line. that should fix it.

Hi-Petercom gave me that tip when i first came across the problem but at the moment i am using my "long" leads from Pre3 to monoblock amps.

Hi Fred,
Yes it means don't worry about it as most items will run int a short circuit without damage.
Yes I thought about an external PSU but discounted it as messy, however needs must I suppose, so go for it.

Cause the obvious thing to do is just power the relay board with the external all the time and dump the switch, you could then fit an led (nooooooo) to the front panel to remind you to select mute when you switch the amp off, or stop using headphone amp.

Thanks to everyone that has taken the time and trouble to reply. With so many sugestions it is now a question of deciding which solution to implement. DTB's power input and switch is certainly a neat solution as is Systemx's suggestion of using a permanent external supply for the board - with an LED - I could always fit the LED in place of the defunct tape monitor switch!! Hmm! which to use.

Hi Fred.
I have given this some more thorght. My Idea was to have the LED come on whenever you select an input, but to go out when you select mute (mute open circuits the supply to all the relays via the neg of the supply).
Now getting a positive for the led is easy, but you would have to connect the neg via diodes to the selector switch to prevent unwanted relays from operating. This is over complecated so as you have a redundent hole in the panel the led could just tell you the supply is on, or you could go for DTB method and fit the switch there.

Sorry if you have sussed all this already

Terry
