It wasn't that much to be honest and if I hadn't found the Lenco I could have lived with it quite happily. There is more detail with the Lenco and although the bass isn't any deeper it just seems more solid and natural sounding.

I did have two of my audiophile friends round to listen both have better hearing than mine (I suffer from industrial deafness) bothe were very impressed with both decks and I could have probably sold the home made one at the time due to the styling more than the sound, I also have a Thorens TD150 that has been tweeked to death and also has a dc motor fitted that sound as good but needs the suspension setting every time its moved and I only have room to have one deck set up at a time so that doesn't get used any more.

One thing I did find was that the DIY deck didn't like the OL1 arm much and sounded far better with my Transcriptor hydraulic fluid arm and brought the performance closer to the Lenco when fitted with a Shure V15III cartridge.

looks like I have a td150 platter ( plus sub platter ) and bearing, which is cool as I like the idea of a nice heavy platter.
will use the metal bearing holding and build a box around this which I will mass load with dry/lead shot etc.
have a couple of floppy drives so will start to take them apart over the week end ( fingers crossed )
