Re: KLPP1 Pre-amp
Hi Peter,
I think I may have left before Greg's made it back onto the rig so I only heard Greg's in the morning before things got a bit more sorted. I know someone put the KLPP1 ahead of the II, but again that was before I left. So not a fair comparison. cheers, -- Andrew |

Re: KLPP1 Pre-amp
I agree with Shane's comments. An all in one case with a phono option would be ideal and versatile for future upgrades to power amps. There could also possibly be internal upgrades if designed from the start e.g. a separate power supply for the phono stage. The one thing I would suggest is to pay attention to the output stage design so that it is very stable into different loads such as long cables so that power amps can be placed close to the speakers and (shock, horror) low input impedance SS amps - this will give the most flexibility in upgrade path as we can't all afford, or want, to change everything at once.
The remote control would also be a welcome addition even if only for the volume control. How about auto detect an input so that you switch effectively by turning off one source and turning on another? Roger |

Re: KLPP1 Pre-amp
Hi Andrew,
My Phono only went in the once and I thought the sound was bad and suffered as the other stages did because the rest of the system/room wasn't right. I think Peter's reference to mine relates to three days of listening at the Bristol show where it was used all the time and IMHO we achieved a balanced and dynamic sound. As said elsewhere, Buddam suffered the same fate and I feel sure that the same applies to your phono stage which I hope to listen to again, maybe Eggfest 3, to make a proper assessment. Best wishes, Greg |

Re: KLPP1 Pre-amp
Hi Greg,
I should be OK for the 3rd June. We would need to figure out how to do another quick shoot-out. But if you're bringing your full kit perhaps this might be easier, less variables involved in getting a known good working set up. We could even do something on the Friday afternoon at the hotel (if that were possible?). cheers, -- Andrew |

Re: KLPP1 Pre-amp
Actually the main problem I had with this preamp was fitting components onto the PCB - especially bulky specialist caps! Did anyone build this on a p to p basis? If so, does anyone have a diagram or such like?
