You have a fair point there Nick, although the room can legally accomodate 40,we must consider equipment and distance between listeners, which we estimated would only allow probably 20 in reality.
Had the originally intended arrived,it would have been tight to say the least.

*Muses*

It seems myself and Steve now have a similar dilemma,a large hall accommodates sufficient people for a large Fest, but our equipment was simply not designed to fill a large hall......

Scale it down, like i did for Withamfest 2,the accoustics are far better,of course, but it also limits the ammount of attendees, thus making it more 'elitist'.

I suspect that Eggfest and Withamfest will continue for many years to come

It's bloody hard work though, i don't deny (You've had it easy Steve, try a 2-dayer,lol ) but when the hard work is over i'm grinning like a Cheshire cat!!!

Please help me and Steve help you,we need your feedback.....................

Cheers

Kindest Regards

Martin

I'm up for Eggfest5 -any date's fine with me.

Although the acoustics in the big hall weren't spectacular, I still really liked it as a venue as there's space to move, the it's easy to get to and park at, and I didn't hear anything bad at all anyway. We all know how to tweak a system in our own room to get it singing to the ultimate degree -but we're never going to be able to do that at a general event, whatever the room is, so personally I don't think it's worth worrying about too much. You can still get a good enough idea of what it does.

Besides, one of my lasting memories of EF4 was listening to a very fine pair of ML TQWTs, and then feeling the top of my head lift off when James fired up his Quasars on the other side of the hall with a decided lack of advance warning. Wouldn't have had quite the same effect in a smaller space.

I rather like Eggborough for the ease of access, space, food and proximity to my sister's house - mostly selfish reasons I suppose . I can put up with the shortcomings partly because after the last four I know what to expect and can make allowances . The warm ( summer ) ones have been better than the cold ones, bear that in mind .

Having said all that, I'm not sure how busy my calendar is getting for June so will have to take stock before saying 'yes' .

I must admit I do like Eggborough.

It is a known quantity and we know what to expect from the venue in terms of sound quality. Anyway these meets are a chance to have a good natter and see what projects people have been up to since the last one. The social aspect is what I go for and the atmosphere provided by the huge station as you drive under the HV cables has become all part of the experience.
You can't get a better mains supply either.

Steve
