Quelle domage! My super-sophisticated joke seems to have passed either unrecognised or misunderstood. For the benefit of those using oxygen-free binder twine in their systems, I'll give you a hint - Linn Kans! Geddit?

Oh well, never mind. Please yourselves.

Just checked Chambers dictionary (1998) . It says "benefited (also benefitted)", giving double-T as the second of two options, demoted to being in brackets.

And perhaps "What do you teach twine ? KNot to tangle?"

If I can ask this without being intrusive or patronising, does anyone else agree Colin's posts are better-written since having to type with the wrong hand ?

Just got it Baggo, a bit of a mystery until you said Kans, of course Linn don't make headphones, so I missed your meaning. Bob

Well done Bob!

Actually, I thought Linn Kans were earphones, hence the reference but it was only when Googling the things after my post that I discovered that they weren't cans (!) after all. No wonder there was such an outbreak of guffaws in response! However, I think I might be given a little latitude for making such a mistake flowing from Linn's confusion of marketing. It will be obvious that I know nothing of Linn products but have a suspicion that at one time there might have been a connection with Ariston? Probably wrong again.
