Hi Richard, the price of the steel cut with a water jet, very nice finish, is £ 27.00 each, not bad at all, the two front side corners can be cut with the water cutter, for the top edges I only have a 5/16" cutter, I think this is what I used on my bases, this will give 5/8" dia, so not quite as big as you want, a 12mm cutter is only £120.00 ,so, is this any good to you. I had a chat with my last forman in Corby to see if he would lend me a 12mm or 1/2" corner rouding cutter, but they do not have one. BOB

Hi Bob, yes that would be great thanks! Water jet through 1" steel - that's amazing isn't it That radius too will be fine thanks and I'm thinking I'll get them finished in satin black powder coat, make a job of them

I found a local company that has a water jet cutting machine, and 1" steel would be no problem. Even copes with delicate stuff like foam rubber.

I've seen locomotive coupling rods cut out of 3" high grade steel and the tolerances they can cut to are amazingly tight.

Do you have a place in mind for powder coating Richard, I have a very good one just over 7 miles away, will do that for you if you wish. My freind at the fabricators tells me that his water cutter will cut up to 120mm thick steel, the presure at the jet is 92000 psi. Is't modern technology fantastic, and here we are ****ing about with old thermionic stuff.

Hi Richard, yes they are quite heavy, I would not want to drop one on my toe, titanium or not, don't think I shall be out of order for a few weeks yet, so you may well have them in a few days, subject to the powder coating time. BOB
