Paper Peerless were the original mids. They can still be bought at Madisound at bargain prices, and are sligthly upgraded.

Polyprop ones were not any good, and Malcolm Jones at Falcon did not recommend them.

That is the May 1975 article, there was an earlier one in November 1974.

I have a pdf of both of them (not one i assembled)... i may actually have a hardcopy of the 2nd one somewhere,

According to the article he used a modded version of the paper one... plastiflex + damping of the can. IMF also used a version of this mid... i was never thrilled with it.

In a modern rendition, there are any number of superb 3 or 4-4.5" units you could use as a mid (modded FE127 anyone?)

Hi Dave

Yes, I was asking Roy if his friend used that correct doped paper one as Wilmslow supplied the polyprop one for a while later on which doesn't work well. Quite a few used the paper unit inc Gale 401.

Thanks for the Daline article, interesting reading later. The Atkinson, yes, forgot that, I'll add it in, drops between the 2 Rogers ones.

Thanks for the article Dave,

Yes, it was the T15 used for the mid range unit. I'll have to get them out to give them a run! However, I'm not expecting a lot because I expect the Bostic sealing strip, which seals the front panel, dried out many moons ago!!

John.

Hello Richard

They were the original paper KO40's. I was familier with the latter as I had a pair of " Hi Fi Answers " Compact Monitors, a closed box, using an Audax 10 inch bass, but the same KO40 mid. In fact the same mid/tweeter crossover. It always sounded rather compressed and locked in ( to the back enclosure )
I was glad to see/hear the back of them. I moved on to one of " IPL's 3tl ", which proved to be a dramatic improvement

Roy

Hi Roy

Ah, ok, it's not something I recognise with mine or they'd be long gone.

I have heard the IPLs a couple of times, briefly, and thought them very good. It got me thinking what I'd build today to replace them and hence the other thread for a 2007 model.

Default Radford T90

In the Radford T90 transmission line, {known as the Audiotronics TL90 in the USA}, there was apparently used the Radford BD25 woofer, and Peerless TD3/2 tweeter.
Does anyone know the Brand and Model Number of the Midrange driver used ?

The Cross-over was the FN12-A

Is there any Specifications or Data published anywhere for these drivers ?

Alan
