Re: 300B SE Amp
Hi Dave,
How many different driver stages have you tried? If it is realistic to offer 'modules' using different topologies, armed with a calculator, could you estimate how much each 'module' would cost to build, components wise? I am thinking along the lines of pcb's,with identical valve holder spacings,so it is easy to change topologies. Could these modules be made, for say,£35? Kindest Regards Martin |

Re: 300B SE Amp
moving on from Paul's post, its occured to me how to do something interesting elegantly.,
ecf80 or 82, pentode 1st stage for gain into the triode stage as a cathode follower. 1 valve, dead simple. sometimes I amaze myself...you could use a mullard. |

Re: 300B SE Amp
Hence 'modules' would give so much flexibilty for experimentism

Dave
The trouble with your blank verse is that it takes up a lot of room on the page. Is this your intention or are you really trying to be a poet? If you want to get up everyone else's nose by restricting their view of multiple threads then please stop or I'll continue slashing the carraige returns. |

Dave has much to offer and I would much rather see his posts than not. He may, of course, decide to reduce the carriage return frequency but I don't see that a sprinkling of extra ones is particularly troublesome. Just my opinion, of course. Mark |

Re: 300B SE Amp
Well I have always found it troublesome to be honest, it never occured to me that Dave was doing it deliberately I thought there was something quirky about his method of accessing the net. Dave if it's by intetion it's stupid because it just makes your comunications worse not better.
Dave knows we get along fine and enjoy each others company this is not a nasty onslaught, just an honest appraisal of how the style affects me.

Re: 300B SE Amp
Peter ,
If you want to give us some ideas of the things that cause problems from admin/bandwidth point of view , then give us some comments , or a pointer to the relevant 'rules' section . I'm sure we will try to accommodate as much as possible , since we enjoy having the facilities of the BB . "If you want to get up everyone else's nose by restricting their view of multiple threads then please stop or I'll continue slashing the carraige returns." I would say from contact with Dave that it's definitely not in his character to want to get up everyone's noses by doing this, it's just his individual style . He's one of our more active DIYers and I rather like his 'haiku' posts . Obvously views vary amongst the membership , though . Mark |

Re: 300B SE Amp
thinking about it, Dave hasn't posted since having his style commented upon
seems a bit sad to me, I miss his querky posts and his enthusiasm,

He has posted on the 'phono get together' thread Perhaps a little humble pie could be eaten here Edit: I personally had no objection to Dave's style of communication. At least we knew it was Dave D and not an imposter *winks* Last edited by Martin213; 23rd January 2006 at 05:34 PM. |
