Re: suggestions for vinyl
Re- Nick Drake stuff Mr C, proper 'Pinks' go for stoopid money, Pink Rims less so but they sometimes go for bigger bucks too.
I managed to get all 3 ND LP's on Simply Vinyl (Audiophoole) Re-issues, pretty good IMO. There's normally kazzilions of Al Stewart and John Martyn stuff out there on Flea-Bay, I bought a pink rim copy of Solid Air for £6! Cover was a tad tatty but the LP is OK. A whole world of wordy delights exist within these LP's DTB

Re: suggestions for vinyl
Hi David,
If your taste in music is eclectic I suggest you try getting hold of a copy of Gentle Giant-Playing The Fool-double live LP. Chock full of layered vocals, polyrythms and chord changes(Jeez ,I don't remember eating a dictionary recently). Brand X-Unorthodox Behaviour I'd vouch for Mark Knoplfler's-Kill To Get Crimson- from Diverse Records with CD of same included in the price-both excellent. Any Dire Straits. For a blow out try Iron Maiden-Powerslave or The Number of the Beast. Sade-Diamond Life or Promise. Happy hunting |

Re: suggestions for vinyl
I would like to support any decision involving Brand X with Phil Collins on drums. Their vinyl albums are stunning and I'm lucky enough to have the whole set but for me, Moroccan Roll has to be one of the finest vinyl albums of all time. It's such a pity that the CD version is just so bad.
If you are a bit of a punk fan then the new release of Joe Jackson's Look Sharp on 10" double vinyl is a fantastic pressing. The treble is a bit sloppy but this type of music was never going to be 'audiophile' was it...? For me, the old classics include Joni Mitchell Blue and Hissing of Summer Lawns and almost anything by Joan Baez. Bob Dylan Blood on the Tracks is still a fab vinyl pressing and was re-issued a short while ago. How about the new release of Brain Salad Surgery by ELP...??? Available from Amazon.

Yep, Basket of Light is the classic must have. Cruel Sister is also good and a little more trad folky.

Re: suggestions for vinyl
have a look at the eels, one to have is souljacker, also beck, odelay is so strange (or it was in 1996 when i was 14, quite an eye opener) later stuff of his tends to silliness.
look out for peter gabriel stuff, most of its quite good, gary moore and peter frampton also and for a very nice record with a good sound, jon strong follow me on linn records. i havent seen a vinyl copy though so dunno on that one
