Re: what are you listening to now
The ringing in my ears after watching an RAF Eurofighter Typhoon display at Dartmouth Regatta yesterday. My God, what a machine that is! I can remember watching Phantoms and suchlike years ago roaring about the sky, but with two mile turning circles, all they could do was scream past, then scream back a few minutes later. This thing's on a whole different level. It was being flung about the sky with real ferocity, and seem to have the manoevrability of a Pitts Special at near mach1 speeds. And how much acoustic power does it take to induce pain at two miles distance? It just seems to tear the air apart. Literally stunning.
The Red Arrows display half an hour later was a bit like watching Come Dancing. Impressive ability and skill, but just a little tame in comparison. Last edited by Shane; 27th August 2006 at 10:06 PM. |

Re: what are you listening to now
some years ago now, I commisioned a hydralic press at a BAE plant, that was gearing up to produce the UK parts of EFA. I remember seeing some of the videos of the prototypes, I think the term they used was "negative stability". A bit of a understatement.
At the same place, I remember walking out of the hanger where we were working, to see a harrier hanging in the air at the end of the car park, even though it was just a test pilot playing around, it was still an impressive, and frankly terrifying sight. The game was (and I saw it a couple of times) to fly down the car park, and then go full up, at the end before you got the the hanger at the end of the park. That got a bit noisy.

Patsy Cline Showcase.
Not a fan of Country, but this one was a gift for my dad at christmas and I thought I would give it a spin. The transfer from vinyl to CD is excellent b.t.w......
