Re: Suspicious,or what ?
There seems to be a pattern amongst some of the latest new members.
They all seem to put their user name where they should put their interests, and a web site address (but not the same one) where the "who are you" info goes. Am I being unduly suspicious ? There does seem to have been an unusual number of new members recently though. PS And all say they are from USA.

Re: Suspicious,or what ?
There seems to be another load of new "spurious" registrations !
What is their motivation ?

Re: Suspicious,or what ?
Bearing in mind everyone has had to re-register, maybe some people have just decided to choose different names, and maybe they don't want their interests disclosed, some people have already mentioned they accepted that they had to register again, but didn't like posting more info in what is a public place. Considering the pages and pages of members info, If I had enough time to read through all of them picking up things like this, I'd rather be spending the time listening to music or tinkering with an amp instead!

Re: Suspicious,or what ?
I hear what you say but I don't think that is the answer.
Time will tell no doubt.

Re: Suspicious,or what ?
Another thing, of all these "spurious" new members, none seem to browse the forum let alone post once they have registered.
And I am fortunate enough to be able to listen to music AND investigate these suspicious new members.

Re: Suspicious,or what ?
I see more (and more) new members are joining, and never bother to post, or indeed even to browse once they have been accepted.
There must be a reason for this ? I wonder how many have joined and never posted since Dave took over, I bet it's in 3 figures. PS at 3.30 today there were 10 new members registering.

Re: Suspicious,or what ?
Hi,
Can you explain what a spurious new member is? Dave. |

Re: Suspicious,or what ?
A "spurious" member is one who joins, but shows no interest in the forum content.
Usually (but not 100 %) the user names are "strange" and their personal information all tends to follows the same pattern. Perhaps it's sad that I spend so much time delving into what new members are up to. But then, as no one else seems at all concerned perhaps I should just shut up ?

Re: Suspicious,or what ?
It may well be that with a new owner with connections already within the industry, Dave's advertising elsewhere has attracted a surge of new interest. Having said that, when you look at the new members tags, one does have to wonder
