I never had any problem with hum pickup with Pre II but, living near a radio transmitter mast, I had loads of problems with RF pickup. I eventually binned the original circuit and went the CF route to avoid this problem.

Question Re: Pre Amps?

Hi Peter,

any update on the schedule for the pre-amp / phono amp range please?

I have my, soon to be collected, WD88VA to keep me busy in the short term but I'm seriously interested in a pre and particularly a phono (mc) head amp.

If the new range is some time off I notice you have the pcbs and front plates for the old WAD pre family, are the instructions / circuit diagrams for those kits available and are there any other "non standard" parts which would be difficult to procure - I'm thinking of transformers in particular.

I'd probably prefer to wait for the new range but must admit I really liked the modular nature of the WAD pre / phono and psu and it's looks.

cheers

Dave

Hi Dave,
I notice in the Jan 07 Hi-Fi World that there is an article on the forthcoming series 3 pre kits. Further articles will be featured in the next few months. From this, I would deduce that the new kits will be on sale pretty soon.
The article also showed a photo of the Pre3, very similar to the old WAD styling and with the same modular construction.

Thumbs up Re: Pre Amps?

Thanks P.O.D,

that's good news, sadly my local (Abu Dhabi) source of HFW seems to have dried up and it now takes a 3 hour round trip to Dubai to find a copy. Perhaps that's the "prod" I need to take out a subscription!

Probable timing sounds promising as that should give me time to build my newly ordered WD88VA and for the bank balance to recover a little!

cheers

Dave
