Hi, Finshed soldering the power supply,8v, and powered the board up.
Reads the TOC nicely and plays using the remote.
Just have to feed the display with 5v and the display will illuminate.

Hi as you can see above my power supply is working,don't know how but it is

Below is the schematic, could someone please tell me if I have wired the toroidal transformer in the best way possible, or is there a way that may give better results.
cheers

That does not sound right.That's not series or parallel.

In Johns original diagram both 12v are connected and both 0v are connected so it's connected in parallel. Same voltage (12v) but double the current (compared to a single winding).

Hi, each 12v output is marked 2.60a amd the 0v's are marked 2.60T.

Could you please tell me what current to expect. and how to work out the VA

It is an old Avell lindberg F5011 toroidal.

Hi just found a little (very little) info.
does not come up as lindberg contrary to the label.
It appears to be 60VA.
When what I require is something like 120VA

Well, I would assume each winding is 2.6A so VA would be 2.6 X 12 = 31.2 per winding and 62.4 as you have it connected.

That's 12v and 5.2A with both windings in parallel.

That diagram is correct but

1=12v
2=0v
3=12v
4=0v

which is not how John's was laid out.

His was
1=12v
2=0v
3=0v
4=12v
