Re: The Agony of Surface Noise
Much as it goes aganist the grain to recommend a Russ Andrews product, I find his ReVive fluid works better for me than Art Du Son. Both are good I find Revive better but it could be that cleaning with Art Du Son and later with ReVive has worked on different contamination.
One thing to watch about Art Du Son is that it is bio-degradable. Great for the environment and I'm very much for that, but you may not have finished using 5 litres before it bio-degrades, mine went mouldy. So, Russ' product may look more expensive but it does last. |

Re: The Agony of Surface Noise
Hi Clive,
I store the concentrate in the fridge and mix up 500mls at a time also kept in the fridge. It seems to last well there. A few flecks of something seem to grow in the solution after a while but are dispersed with a good shake and the product info refers to this as not being a problem.......I reckon Best wishes, Greg |

Re: The Agony of Surface Noise
Hi, I use a Moth record cleaning machine to great effect too. The solution I use is a mixture of purified water & Isopropyl alcohol. For any day-to-day static build up & dust I use the Goldring exstatic brush. I found the zerostsat anti-static gun pretty useless, though funnily it works well with CD. Also to get rid of day-to-day dust I've used a can of air spray & the best anti-static device I've used post cleaning is a can of anti-static spray from Maplins. Very good stuff & leaves no residue too.

It quite possible that the flecks (or lumps of mould I found) are ok but given how most of us go to great lengths to use pure water, to then add decomposing bio-matter seems a little....err, strange. If you use cleaning fluid frequently or do a lot of records at once there won't be an issue. Maybe I'm just being over-cautious. Cheers, Clive |

What is it with Russ Andrews, I have always had a bad feeling about his stuff. I have heard good things in mags and some good things on the web but I have read a lot of bad things on the web as well. This has turned me off from buying anything from them.
