Thanks Shane, depending on isp connection next time others may be fine and it may be me having problems.

When this did happen to me a few years ago I spoke to a tech at NTL, as it was then, who said it could be that the host server is fine and NTL was fine but there was a problem along the route the 2 connected with which was not under their control.

Hence some isps had problems and others, connecting via a different route, were fine. A bit like a road network, eventually the bad part is fixed and normal service resumes, but, just like a traffic jam that finally ends you never get to find out the reason after the cars are cleared.

Hi All

I've spoken with the host this morning and it is possible that things will already have improved - subject to Richard's traffic jam comment.

Apparently there have been some "compromised" servers (not ours) which has been jamming up firewalls and causing problems, due to increased traffic, with ours. This was sorted out yesterday. Let's hope that's the explanation.

If anyone has ongoing issues, please can I have as much information as possible about the following: Location; Time & Date; Platform; Browser; ISP; Connection Speed (if possible), and any "avoiding action" you may have taken e.g. quitting browser/rebooting/clearing caches etc.

I had problems this morning again, about 10:30.

Virgin Media phone broadband. 5 MBPS, Windows XP Pro, Google Chrome.

I logged on this morning at 08 00, read all the new posts and it froze, then it went off without me doing anything, logged on again at 0830 and gave details Richard asked for, it came up on the screen but now it's gone so again Virgin vista, Google chrome. BOB

Everything worked fine this morning with instant log in but this afternoon on different occasions, I had to make several attempts to log in before I got success. I want to help sort this but looking for a simple website that measures the speed from my ISP has got me foxed. The sites I've previously used have become far more complicated. Please can someone recommend a simple application I can use so I can report my ISP download speed?
